Summertime performances at St Giles’ included a candlelit Midsummer eve organ recital, a concert by the Greenwich Meantime Saxophone Quartet, a dramatic semi-staged recital of Othmar Schoeck’s 1927 song cycle, ‘Buried Alive’ and a workshop with Southwark Youth Orchestra.
After a brief respite, we’re already planning for the autumn. Sunday 4th September is our patronal festival and St Giles’ Choir will be leading our morning service with some exciting music. Camberwell Community Choir begin rehearsing again on Tuesday 13th of September and the choir will be working on music for our now annual silent film night. This year’s film is Hitchcock’s famous ‘Blackmail’ of 1929 – stay tuned for more details on this soon.
And inevitably – Christmas is just around the corner! So there’ll be our usual Christmas services and concerts – as well as a return of Christmas ‘Organoke’. An exciting few months ahead!
