Our big event of the summer is Organoke and it returns to St Giles’ on Saturday 24th June. It’s bigger and better this year and if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to sing Karaoke classics in a church – this is your big chance! Tickets go on sale soon – visit organoke for more details.
A few weeks before organoke though you’re invited to our back garden. ‘Garden Piano Jam‘ on Sunday 4th June from 2-5pm is a chance to listen to some (mostly) classical music whilst having a walk around our garden. It’s part of the Camberwell Society‘s Open Gardens day. You may just want to stop for a short while whilst you’re walking along Churchyard Passage or listen from the park. It’s free, informal and the music will mostly be played by pupils from local schools. We can even provide a glass of wine whilst you listen.
Four days later, the country goes to the polls on Thursday 8th June. If you’re finding the election all a bit too much to bear – pop into St Giles’ at either 12.30pm or 7.30pm. Ashley the organist will be playing some soothing classical music and wine is available. You can stay as long as you like and entry is free.
On Sunday 18th June at 4pm, Choral Evensong will take place and if you’re a singer, we need your help! We’re hoping that if you have a musical background and would like to help the church choir sing some beautiful church music you’d consider joining us for a rehearsal on the day. All the details are here and there’s a simple form to fill in to let us know that you’re coming. If not – join us at 4pm to listen to the end product!
On Wednesday 21st June, we’re delighted to welcome back the Khorasan String Quartet. After wowing the audience at a lunchtime concert we’re very excited to welcome them back on an evening. Tickets are £3 on the door and wine is available.
Finally on Wednesday 5th July at 7.30pm we’re delighted to welcome Mezzo-contralto Grainne Gillis and pianist Richard Black to St Giles’. Tickets are again £3 on the door.
Please do come and listen if you can – there’s lots more details on our facebook page. We hope to see you soon.
